Bilums are traditional Papua New Guinea string bags and have been made

in Papua New Guinea for centuries.  They come in different shapes, sizes

and styles and are made for different purposes.



In PNG, bilums are made to carry food, to carry babies

in and it can be used like any other bag.

The creative design or style woven on the bilum is very unique,

it identifies where a person comes from.

Such as the people from Sipiga in the Eastern Highland Province of PNG

have their own design. See All though bilums have different purposes and
